Kiwanis is collecting pennies. With the pennies being phased out and everybody having many of these in pockets, cupboards, and all over the place, we thought it would be a good idea to collect them for a good cause.
The Eliminate project aims to fully eradicate maternal and neonatal tetanus from the world. A virtually unknown problem in developed nations like our own, it is still a big cause of concern for people in developing countries were health care is precarious and there is a high rate of mortality from this disease.
The cost of a vaccine is really small for us, but really high for people in developing countries. UNICEF has partnered with Kiwanis to reach this goal.
