This musical journey would likely not have happened without the challenge, inspiration, and support of the Guelph Kiwanis Festival. “The Unaccompanied Minors”

As an ensemble, they have had the benefit of great teaching and mentoring from their coach Cathy Anderson, and from workshops with the Bremen and the Penderecki String Quartets. They have received scholarships and provincial nominations three times, competing in the OMFA Provincial Finals in 2010 (3rd place), 2011 (2nd place) and 2012 (1st place).

This string quartet was formed five years ago, when a group of friends decided it would be fun to play music together, but over the years they have grown into serious musicians with a great love of chamber music.

They have been active musicians in the community, performing at many public and private functions, most recently at the Elliot Community in Guelph, and the Kitchener 100 Celebrations at KW city hall.

The Unaccompanied Minors are seeking sponsors to assist with their expenses as they prepare to travel to Fort McMurray, Alberta, August 14-19, 2012, to compete in the FCMF National Music Festival.

Please consider helping these young people in their journey to Ft. McMurray. Make your cheques payable to the Kiwanis Club of Guelph, and a charitable receipt will be issued.
